Jakarta, July 15, 2024 – The Center for Sustainability and Waste Management at Universitas Indonesia (CSWM UI) was proud to announce its participation in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Green Industry and Circular Economy Approaches. This event, organized by the Ministry of Industry, aimed to address the challenges and opportunities in implementing the International Legally Binding Instrument on Plastic Pollution (ILBI PP) within the manufacturing sector.”
Dr. Mochamad Chalid, a distinguished professor of Polymers Technology at Universitas Indonesia, represented CSWM UI as a keynote speaker. With extensive experience in polymer science and technology, Dr. Chalid has been at the forefront of numerous research projects focusing on sustainable materials and circular economy principles. His work has significantly contributed to the development of innovative waste management solutions and the conversion of waste into valuable products. During the FGD, Dr. Chalid shared his insights on how the plastics industry can transition to more sustainable practices, emphasizing the importance of integrating green industry practices throughout the supply chain.
The event followed the outcomes of the 4th Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-4) on Plastic Pollution.
