CSWM UI and GPTech Spearhead “Green Woman Leaders” Initiative to Elevate Community Health and Sustainability in Depok

Depok, 08 November 2025 – The Center for Sustainability and Waste Management Universitas Indonesia (CSWM UI), in a strategic partnership with GPTech, has successfully inaugurated the “Green Woman Leaders x GPCampaign” in Sawangan, Depok. This initiative, funded and supported by the Universitas Indonesia Community Development Grant, serves as a flagship program to empower women as the primary catalysts for environmental stewardship and family health.

By integrating ecological responsibility with public health advocacy, CSWM UI and GPTech aim to create a sustainable model for community development. The program focuses on the pivotal role of women in the domestic sphere, training them to lead initiatives that address both waste management challenges and critical health issues such as stunting.

The program’s curriculum was designed to bridge the gap between environmental management and pediatric wellness. Participants were provided with comprehensive insights into how systematic household waste segregation and improved sanitation directly correlate with the prevention of nutritional deficiencies and the overall enhancement of family well-being.

The event featured several key components such as Inspirational Seminar led by Experts from CSWM UI, direct mentoring on preparing cost-effective, nutritious meals and optimizing household resources, and creative upcycling workshop where participants transformed discarded large-volume water containers into functional plant pots, exemplifying circular economy practices.

“This collaboration between CSWM UI and GPTech, empowered by the UI Community Development Grant, demonstrates our commitment to translating academic research into tangible community benefits. By equipping these women with the tools to manage both their environment and their family’s health, we are fostering a more resilient and harmonious society,” stated a representative from the CSWM UI Organizing Committee.

The initiative saw active participation from 30 delegates representing the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) and local youth organizations (Karang Taruna). The program also received a formal endorsement from the Head of Sawangan Sub-district, Are, who lauded the synergy between the university and the community in addressing pressing social and environmental hurdles.

Through the Green Woman Leaders x GPCampaign, CSWM UI and GPTech continue to champion the “multiplier effect,” where educated community leaders disseminate knowledge to ensure long-term, sustainable impact across the region.
