Our center is driving a sustainable future through innovative waste management
Contact Us
Our engagement with sustainability and waste management commenced with research into the utilization of biomass waste, specifically oil palm empty fruit bunch, for the production of green polymer. The objective was to identify a sustainable solution for waste management while mitigating reliance on non-renewable resources. Initially, our approach to addressing waste management was technologically focused, but it became evident that a multidisciplinary perspective is essential for developing comprehensive and sustainable solutions.
Universitas Indonesia has consistently endeavored to enhance its contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in environmental domains. In alignment with this commitment, the Center for Sustainability and Waste Management Universitas Indonesia (CSWM-UI) was established in 2022.
The center aims to become a leading institution in promoting sustainable development by addressing waste management issues through research and community engagement. CSWM-UI’s mission is to bridge the gap between academia, industry, and the community, find solutions to environmental problems, promote sustainable practices, and contribute to creating a sustainable future.
CSWM-UI comprises an expert board from multidisciplinary fields, such as material and environmental engineering, social sciences, and business. This diverse team enables us to approach waste management issues from various perspectives. With its focus on research and community engagement, CSWM-UI is well-positioned to provide comprehensive solutions to waste management problems and contribute to the global effort towards a sustainable future.
