Before the 1800s, fashion style was associated with financial status. As sewing machines were invented, clothes became easier, quicker, and cheaper to make and middle-class societies started to enjoy fashion. The development of industries that produced cheaper clothes in the nineteenth century was paving the way for the emergence of the fast fashion industries that we know today.
